LiveBetter
Accelerating deep renovation through high-quality data and AI-based data-driven services in a dynamic and adaptive digital environment
LiveBetter advances the EU Renovation Wave Strategy by establishing the Standardized Common European Digital Buildings Hub, integrating high-performance, Data Space-compliant data-sharing mechanisms with 15 market-ready, AI-based services for certification, inspection, performance optimization, renovation planning, and building activation across Europe.
Main Objectives
LiveBetter addresses Europe's building renovation challenge, targeting the sector that accounts for half of the EU's total energy consumption. The project aims to:
- Establish the LiveBetter Hub: a standardized Common European Digital Buildings platform compliant with the EU Building Stock Observatory, providing secure access to high-quality building data
- Develop 15 AI-based services covering CERTIFICATION (dynamic EPCs), INSPECTION (digital audits), PERFORMANCE (Digital Twin management), RENOVATION (planning and financing), and ACTIVATION (flexibility and demand response)
- Create a Data Intelligence Framework ensuring data quality, interoperability, and GDPR-compliant governance across heterogeneous building data sources
- Deploy innovative financing schemes and business models including Renovation-as-a-Service to drive market adoption and enable scalable deep renovations
- Test solutions across 6 Business Cases involving building owners, ESCOs, financiers, utilities, and authorities in Bulgaria, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, and Spain
- Establish a Community of Practice and Building Clinics providing capacity-building for non-tech stakeholders and SMEs
SmartFlex Role in LiveBetter
As Partner 4, SmartFlex leads the development of the LiveBetter Hub architecture and serves as the technical integrator of the entire platform ecosystem.
Key Contributions
